MUD DRAG CLASS RULES – (NON-SANCTIONED RACE)
JULY 1st & 2nd, 2011 @ UP STATE FAIR GROUNDS IN ESCANABA, MI
(ONLY 2 CLASSES OF RACING)
GENERAL RULES
- Seat belts and helmets are REQUIRED for drivers.
- Minimum of one tow hook or clevis at each end of the vehicle is MANDATORY!
CLASS 1 – SUPER STOCK / PRO STOCK CLASS:
- No fuels other than gas. NO NITROUS.
- The tires must be D.O.T. approved. Cut tires will be permitted.
- Any racing suspensions are allowed.
- Must have a COMPLETE OEM frame. Must have full length frame rails to meet the production dimensions.
- The vehicle must have a complete O.E.M. body in appearance, fiberglass bodies are OK.
- Gutting of the vehicles interior is allowed.
- No chain drives or tube frames are allowed.
- If the vehicle is gutted, you must have a four point roll cage. Roll cage must be steel tubing or chromoly with a minimum wall thickness of .095. If you cut any support what-so-ever, you must have a roll cage. It is recommended to be one continuous loop over your head.
- Radiators can be moved out of the engine compartment, but must be separated from the driver by a firewall or have an SFI approved driving suit.
- Axles must remain in stock location of the frame being used.
- The face of the harmonic balancer (not the bolt) must be forward or in the center of the front axle tube.
- The engine can only have one carburetor.
- There will be no after-market blowers, turbochargers, or fuel injection.
- All vehicles must have two (2) return springs on the throttle linkage.
- If you have a transbrake, you must have an SFI approved transmission blanket or shield.
- You must have a firewall between the driver and the motor, or an SFI approved fire suit.
- You must have a fire extinguisher reachable from the driver’s seat and at least one drive shaft hoop per drive shaft to race.
- Arm restraints or window nets/covers are MANDATORY.
CLASS 2 – STREET STOCK / IMPROVED STOCK CLASS:
- There is a 4 out of 6 modification rule. (5) of these modifications will put you into SUPER STOCK class. After-market intake, headers, a carburetor which did not come as stock equipment on a one-ton or less four wheel drive ( O.E.M. replacement carburetors’ are OK ), an engine swap, moving the radiator out of the engine compartment, or body swap.
- OEM Aluminum blocks, heads & injection are allowed if they were available in a production one-ton or less four wheel drive truck.
- No air shifters or Trans. brakes. (You can have them, but don’t use them)
- NO gutting of the vehicle will be allowed.
- The engine must remain in the stock position.
- No headers through the hood.
- No chain drives or tube frames are allowed.
- No aftermarket aluminum heads or race suspensions.
- The body must retain a stock appearance. The seats must be located in stock position.
- No relocation of axles.
- Tires must be uncut D.O.T. approved, re-grooving to a stock configuration is permitted.
- There is a vacuum rule in effect. All stock vehicles must be able to hold 12 inches of direct manifold vacuum at 1000 rpm; at any time asked to do so. You only get 2 chances at pulling vacuum. Let the Tech. Inspector know when you are ready to try. No timing adjustments after pulling vacuum!!!!! These vehicles must provide a port to be checked. If no port is provided, the vehicle will be allowed to race in SUPER STOCK class and be BARRED from this class.
- No racing fiberglass, panels must be OEM and retain stock appearance at the discretion of the Tech. Inspectors.
- Traction aids such as ladder or traction bars are allowed. Vehicle must retain complete stock OEM suspension.
